Ontogeny

Ontogeny refers to the development of an individual organism’s behavior as a result of their unique experiences and interactions with the environment over their lifetime. Ontogeny focuses on learning and behavioral changes that occur due to environmental influences, shaping how an organism responds to future situations.

Example

A child who learns to ride a bicycle through practice and trial-and-error is undergoing behavioral changes through ontogeny. As they interact with the environment (balancing, steering, and pedaling), their ability to ride a bicycle improves, reflecting the learning that results from their experiences.
