Momentary Time Sampling (MTS)

Momentary Time Samplingย involves observing and recording whether a specificย behaviorย is occurring at the exact end of a predetermined interval.

Example

A teacher uses momentary time sampling to track if a student is on-task during a 30-minute class. Every 5 minutes, at the end of each interval, the teacher checks whether the student is working on the assigned task. Theย behaviorย is only marked as occurring if the student is on-task at the moment of the teacherโ€™s observation.
