Imitation Training

Definition

Imitation Training refers to a teaching technique used in applied behavior analysis (ABA) where an individual is taught to imitate a modeled behavior presented by another person. The goal is to establish the learner’s ability to observe and replicate the behavior of others.

Example

A therapist raises their hand and verbally instructs a child to do the same. When the child raises their hand in response, the therapist praises the child or provides a reward. This process is repeated with different actions, such as clapping, pointing, or sitting down, to help the child learn to imitate others’ behaviors.
