Independent Group Contingency

Independentย Group Contingencyย refer to a situation where the same contingency (rule or reinforcement condition) is presented to all individuals in a group, but only the members who meet the contingency criteria receive reinforcement.

Example

In a classroom, the teacher sets a rule: โ€œAny student who finishes their worksheet before lunch will get extra playtime during recess.โ€ Even though the rule applies to everyone in the class, only the students who meet the contingency by completing their work before lunch get the reward of extra recess time.
