Independentย Group Contingencyย refer to a situation where the same contingency (rule or reinforcement condition) is presented to all individuals in a group, but only the members who meet the contingency criteria receive reinforcement.
Example
In a classroom, the teacher sets a rule: โAny student who finishes their worksheet before lunch will get extra playtime during recess.โ Even though the rule applies to everyone in the class, only the students who meet the contingency by completing their work before lunch get the reward of extra recess time.
