Positive Reinforcement

Positive Reinforcement is a process in which a desirable stimulus is added to the environment following a behavior, with the goal of increasing or maintaining the likelihood that the behavior will occur again in the future.

Example

A student completes their homework on time and receives praise from the teacher. The addition of praise (the positive stimulus) makes it more likely that the student will continue completing their homework on time in the future. This is an example of positive reinforcement, as the praise encourages the desired behavior.
