Verbal Prompt

Verbal Prompt refers to the use of spoken words, instructions, or questions provided to assist a learner in performing the correct response or behavior. These prompts serve as additional cues to guide the learner toward the desired behavior.

Example

A teacher says, “What comes after two?” to help a student count to three. The verbal prompt assists the learner in giving the correct response (three). As the learner becomes more proficient, the verbal prompt can be gradually faded.
