Temporal Stimulus Class

Temporal Stimulus Class refers to a group of stimuli that are categorized based on the timing of their occurrence in relation to a specific behavior. These stimuli are classified by whether they occur before, during, or after the behavior of interest.

Example

In a classroom setting, the ringing of a bell right before a break serves as an antecedent stimulus (occurring before the behavior of students getting up). The bell is part of a temporal stimulus class because it is defined by when it occurs relative to the students’ behavior of standing up and leaving the classroom.
