Single Stimulus Preference Assessment

Single Stimulus Preference Assessment is a method in which a therapist presents one item at a time to a learner to determine their preference. The learner’s interaction with each item is recorded, and the items they engage with most are considered highly preferred.

Example

A therapist presents a toy car to a child, observes how long the child plays with it, and then presents a different item, such as a stuffed animal. By repeating this with various items, the therapist identifies which items the child prefers based on the amount of time they engage with each one.
