Response Class is a group of behaviors that may differ in form but serve the same function or produce the same outcome. All responses within a class lead to the same reinforcement or consequence.
Example
A child may engage in several different behaviors to gain attention from a parent, such as shouting, tapping the parent on the shoulder, or handing the parent a toy. While the behaviors are different in form, they all serve the same function — to get the parent’s attention. These behaviors are part of the same response class because they achieve the same goal.
