Reflexivity

Reflexivity (Generalized Identity Matching) is a form of stimulus-stimulus matching in which an individual is able to match a sample stimulus to an identical stimulus without being explicitly trained to do so. Reflexivity involves simple, non-symbolic matching-to-sample behavior.

Example

A child is shown a card with a picture of a dog (the sample stimulus) and asked to select a matching picture from a set of cards. The child correctly picks the card with an identical picture of a dog without needing prior training. This ability to match identical stimuli demonstrates reflexivity.
