Permanent Product Recording is a measurement method in which behavior is assessed after it has occurred by evaluating the lasting changes or effects the behavior has produced on the environment. Instead of observing the behavior directly, the observer evaluates the outcome or “product” of the behavior.
Example
A teacher who wants to track how often a student completes their homework may use permanent product recording. Rather than watching the student do the homework, the teacher evaluates the completed assignments handed in at the end of each day or week. The homework assignments serve as a permanent product that reflects the student’s behavior of completing their work.
