Latency

Definition

Latency refers to the time between the presentation of a stimulus (such as a prompt or instruction) and the initiation of the target behavior. It measures how quickly an individual begins to respond after a given cue.

Example

If a teacher says, “Please stand up,” and it takes a student 5 seconds to stand, the latency is 5 seconds. This interval shows how long the student takes to start the requested action after hearing the instruction
