Generality refers to the extent to which a behavior change that has been achieved through intervention not only persists over time but also occurs in various settings, situations, or with different people. In behavior analysis, a behavior change is considered successful if it can generalize beyond the original teaching environment and conditions.
Example
A child is taught to share toys during playtime in a therapy session. For the behavior change to demonstrate generality, the child should also share toys when playing at home with siblings or at school with classmates, even without the presence of the therapist or the same specific conditions under which the behavior was initially taught.
